Jodhpur in Western India is known as the blue city. The color was decreed by a Maharajah several centuries ago, as being astrologically fortuitous. The color allegedly repels mosquitoes as well. The old city is a true labyrinth of blue, replete with sacred cows, Hindu temples, chattering monkeys and other delights.
