The legendary city of Kathmandu, whith its core area designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, was irrevocably altered by a massive earthquake on the 25th of April, 2015, claiming thousands of lives in the process. This series of photographs was taken in the historic centre of the city just one month earlier, and shows many of the sites that have been damaged or destroyed by the quake, as well as vignettes from the cuturally rich daily life that unfolded there.
