FREEDOM CONVOY

The self-styled Freedom Convoy, truckers and sympathizers of their rebuttal of COVID measures, blockaded downtown Ottawa for three weeks in January and February 2022. The convoy of several hundred vehicles took police and most everyone else by surprise when they drove up to the Canadian parliament and vowed to stay until the current Government was ousted. Crowds reaching the tens of thousands drifted in and out of the capital during the madcap siege sustained during frigid temperatures. The Prime Minister eventually invoked a "state of emergency" act, bringing in multiple police forces to clear out the protest.
